Title: DB Error STARTUP - Test System
Post by: Gordon R on March 12, 2013, 06:37:31 PM
Good Afternoon;
                          We are now having a new issue with our Test environment.
The CMOD system does not want to start.  Has anyone come across this error before?

arssockd (ARST): 03/07/13 13:58:51 0 ARSSOCKD  2 13 DB Error: STARTUP -- SQLSTATE=HENV=0, SQLCODE=-1, File=arssys.c, Line=214

CMOD = 8.4.1
AIX = 6.1
Oracle = 11g r2

Since this is our Test system, we should get this resolved before going to 8.5.x..

Thanks in advance,
Gord

Hello,

If I'm not wrong that is because of Oracle 11G R2.
Oracle with its R2 release introduced a bug.
As long as you don't correct your Oracle installation, you won't be able to start CMOD (8.4.X or later).

In addition Oracle 11GR2 is supported officially only with V8.5.0.2 and not before.

You can check this link in order to correct your problem:

http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21496629 (http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21496629)

My advice is first upgrade to 8.5, then upgrade to Oracle 11G R2, correct the Oracle bug, and then start CMOD.

Sincerely yours,
Alessandro

You also need to install the GSKit or you will not be able to start CMOD.

I found this to be a very well written article for our upgrade.

Hello,

Sorry to bring back this old post but I'm experiencing this error.
I'm migrating CMOD 8.5 to the latest version 9.5.0.7, on Windows, using also a remote Oracle DB 11gR2.

First, I had successfully configured CMOD 8.5 to connect to the DB, start CMOD and search with the client.
However, I was still having this problem with the TSM Archive (with 8.5):

http://ODUG.net/index.php?topic=1903.0

In which seemed to be a bug on the directory structure inside TSM to look/search for the file.
It was suggested to upgrade to the 9.5 (I'm not sure if it was also just the client, to lower to 9.5.0.3 and not the server, however I need to put the latest version working) , in which I installed and setup again the instance, etc.

But it seems that now I have a problem connecting to the DB in order to run the updates on the tables and indexes:

D:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand\V9.5\bin>arsdb -I DBOD1 -efv
ARS4054E DB Error: STARTUP -- SQLSTATE=HENV=0, SQLCODE=-1
arsdb:  ARS4023E Unable to connect to ORACLE DBOD1 database

I suggested the DBA, the following note: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21496629
But it didn't solve the problem.

Does anyone had already experienced this problem?

Thanks!

I happened across this article while looking for something else, but thought it might provide some help:

Hello,

Thank you for your answer but I don't see how it can help.

Thanks

Edit: I've been also hearing that it's usually related to the ARS_ORACLE_HOME directory but I believe I have this set fine: C:\Oracle11gR2\product\11.2.0\client_1
