Title: viewing multiple documents
Post by: Michel de Kraker on November 26, 2014, 07:21:24 AM
Hi All

When i select in my document list multiple documents i want to view those documents in 1 file.
Documents are of the type AFP.

Does anyone have an answer? I am not able to do this in the client (8.5.0.6)

Thx,

Kind regards,

Michel de Kraker.

CMOD has always been document-centric, so it's never had the feature to concatenate results.  You might be able to put them into a bundle with the report distribution feature, or export them into files using 'arsdoc get', but I don't think this is a feature of the CMOD client, and there may be issues at the AFP level for doing this.  (If the resources are different, there might be a 'name space' issue, where two sets of resources have objects with the same name and different contents.)

I've never tried this, but could you print all the open documents into a single PDF?  Or maybe AFP2PDF would be able to concatenate multiple documents into one output file...

If you don't find an answer to this question, describe your problem and proposed solution in the Enhancements Requests Forum.

Although it's not what the poster asked, concatenation does work with line data documents using <Options><View Combined Documents> but the help text does list a bunch of caveats. Even so, some of my clients would not know what to do if that feature was removed.

Hey John.

I didn't know that feature existed -- I'll check it out the next time I'm playing with line data.  Thanks for the tip!  :)
