Title: Limit of number applications, application groups and folders
Post by: kader on March 20, 2015, 06:18:56 PM
Hi folks,

I'm wondering if there documentation about the maximim number of applications, application groups and folders that OnDeamand can support without altering the performance.

Thanks,

Kader

Hi Kader.

Performance will stay linear for end users up into the tens-of-thousands of Application Groups.  I've worked on systems in the 7500+ range, and aside from the admin client being a little pokey (it has to download those definitions when you open up the windows) it will stay fast, regardless of how many documents you cram into it, providing you configure everything else correctly (segment sizes, expiration types, etc.)

I've also been in this boat. I haven't seen any performance issues. The only thing I have seen is when there's been an audit, and the business says "applications that havent been accessed since XX/XX/XXXX can be purged, or when was the last time it was accessed.

On 9.0 at least :)

(okay, I may be a bit biased here, but I am assured that the following statement is true)

No product, no platform, nothing beats the speed and scalability of CMOD on z/OS.  It is, bar none, the fastest product for what it does on high end, period.

Ed  (hoping no arrows fly at me for making that statement   ;D )

There's something to be said about serving tens of thousands of users on inexpensive commodity hardware with a free OS.  ;)

How does the old saying go?  "Good. Fast. Cheap.  Choose Two."
