Title: ARS_DB_RUNSTATS_DISABLE parameter
Post by: jfunk on July 11, 2016, 01:25:52 PM
Good day,

ARS_DB_RUNSTATS_DISABLE parameter states 'If a value of 1 is specified, runstats will not be run during table creation.'  Is this also true concerning index creation?  Please advise.

Can you point me to the documentation for this parameter?  I've never heard of it before, so I'd like to educate myself on it.

It might be that the only way to know for sure is to ask the developer, who can review the source code and give you a definitive answer.

In general terms, if you switch an Application Group field in CMOD from 'Filter' to 'Index', it's always a good idea to do a table & index reorg at the database level on all of the related tables.

Good day,

May I add one more note?  I understand about runstat needs.  However, in DB2, when the dbas set it up, reorgs and runstats occur outside OnDemand regularly.  Furthermore, the OnDemand based runstats fail with a couple of our table series (in this case a 4 table sequence containing over 700 million rows) it fails.  Therefore, it behooves us to know whether this tool does what the manual states for DB2 indices as well when the table, and rows, already exists.  Thank you.

Oops.  Didn't notice this was a z/OS thread.  :)

Your best bet is to open a PMR with this question.  The docs aren't really detailed enough.

Could you please report back and let us know what the answer is?

Thanks!
