Title: Adobe Reader vs Pro and error
Post by: bruce.mchendry on December 07, 2016, 03:47:10 PM
Hello,
I have a user that recently got a new laptop and has both Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro. For reference we have users that leverage both ICN and the desktop thick client ( v9.5). We have found ICN works ok but with larger files the thick client is better. Anway, she is getting an error when opening PDF files. It's a plugins error that ARSPDF32.API can not be loaded. By default her PDF file association will be to use Adobe Reader. Should it be set to Acrobat Pro instead ? If so is it possible to have the CMOD client use Acrobat Pro but leave the PDF association to Reader for all other files ? I have some users that don't like Acrobat Pro being default for every PDF. Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Bruce

I think that's a limitation of Windows -- you can only set it to send files of a specific file extension to one program.

Does your browser support viewing PDFs natively, or can you use a browser-add-on to view PDFs inside the client?  That might give you the best of both worlds.
