Title: CMOD on Mainframe - zOS
Post by: Glenn on April 02, 2018, 05:25:10 PM
Is it harder or easier to maintain CMOD on a zOS system than Unix or Linux?  I am trying to familiarize myself with zOS and am trying to get a better understanding of CMOD and this type of environment.
Thanks

I suppose it's all what you're accustomed to.  I've built CMOD servers that have run for years with minimal oversight and maintenance.

If you're more familiar with the UNIX/Linux side, try CMOD on z/Linux.  I've been told is practically identical to CMOD on "Lintel".

Agreed, any platform you are most comfortable working on/with is the best option.  It is also worth mentioning that what platform you are most efficient at writing the custom exits on should also play a factor in your choice.   Plus depending on what security model you want to use OnDemand/LDAP/RACF you might lean towards the same platform to keep it simpler.   My two cents :)
