Title: Report Name problems
Post by: Gordon R on November 21, 2008, 01:38:15 PM
I guess I am the new guy. So, this is going to be hard to explain.

I have a field called ?Report Name? that I cannot successfully search on.

Here are my settings?.In the Application Group I have defined ?repname?

repname = ?Warehouse Inventory Report ? Units?     database value = LC65-001

?Warehouse Inventory Report ? Cost?       database value = LC65-002

                     Ect..

I have defined a field in the Application as ?Warehouse Inventory Report ? Units? using the ?Constant Value? on the Field Information panel.   The reason I am trying to use this is because if I take the report name directly from the PDF it is all uppercase and on two lines and each character has a space after it so it would appear on the search results as a very long entry and look bad.  I cannot see a reason that the Report Name drop-down box on the folder will not find the report in a search.

Is there a way to make this work?   Any help would be appreciated.

Does the document has the these database values (LC65-001 or LC65-002) ? if not the unique value in the document can be given to idenfity the reprot and load it.

Hi Gordon...

You didn't say it explicitly -- but you're using multiple Application definitions in your Application Group, right?

If so, the easiest way would be mapping the 'Application ID' to the report name.

I was able to resolve this issue with the help of IBM.  Instead of using the Report Name field we set the drop down list on the Report Number field, just as 'jd' mentioned about the Application ID field.   Thank you for your assistance.
