Title: Can't view historical reports

We are running OD 8.4. We are trying to test a copy of a database on a test machine.  We have setup the database and loaded the db copy from tape.  We have set the config files to point to this new SRV_INSTANCE but we are unable to view the reports.  If we load a new report we are able to view the  new activity but none of the old.  We receive a message that states:

(Day Date and Time Stamp) arssockd (SRV_INSTANCE): (Date) (Time) 1343518 (USERID)  2 23 Object >Object Number< in Application Group >AGName< not found in cache, no other storage defined  Srvr->name and IP address<-

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To view old reports you also need to restore those reports to test machine (from the message you got I assume you use "cache only").
Think that if you create OD cache directories on the drives with same letters as in production machine, you can simply copy their contents from production to test machine with reliable bulk copy tool.

Hello Paul,

I agree with what Vadim said, only reinstalling the OnDemand database is not enough. With that restore you will only have the whole configuration AND the Indexes, and nothing else (meaning NO document at all).

For the documents you have to copy the Cache directory to the test server.

If you have documents in TSM, then you need to be extremely careful. Because by doing such restore you will point to your actual OD TSM repository, as the original OD instance.
Meaning if in your test, you add a new document, it won't be visible in the other environment.
Meaning if in your test, you remove a document, then in the other OD server, you will still have the link, but no document behind...
...
So you can have a mess if you are not careful, and do more than a read-only.

As long as you play with Cache directory, there are no danger, but if you have TSM connection, be really careful on what you do.

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes, this is cache-only and we did restore the cache directory.

Is that to say that you've solved your problem, or that despite restoring the cache filesystems, you still can't retrieve documents?
