Title: Misssing Tapes in TSM
Post by: rstockton on October 21, 2011, 08:16:47 PM
We have a situation where tapes appear to be  missing from TSM.  They do not showup in queries, but I know they do exist and are still in the tape robot, even though the are not showing up in the slot queries.  How do I find these tapes and re-identify them to the system.

Thanks,

Russell

Audit the library, followed by a checkin libvol.  Tape operations will be slow during this process, obviously.

Thanks Justin.

How did the IOD go?  I was hoping to make it this year, but just could not work it out.

Does the AUDIT return any information about the tapes?

Thanks,

Hi Russell.

IOD was fine again this year.  I go for the ODUG Technical Conference, mostly.  :)

Nope, the audit library command removes entries from the library's inventory that aren't there.  The Checkin Libvol command is used to get tapes IN to the library's inventory.

Thanks Justin.

It makes learning so much easier to get a good direct answer than trying to figure out what the manual is trying to say.
