Title: PDF bloating issues with arspdoci
Post by: pankaj.puranik on January 28, 2013, 09:36:59 AM
Hi

I am stuck with this issue where I am using a PDF indexer.
I run the arspdoci to generate .res, .out and .ind files.
My parameter file is correct and it works fine for some of the other PDFs.

But for one particular set the arspdoci only produces the .ind and .out file.
Also the .out file generated by CMOD is considerable (about 10 times) larger than the input pdf used to run arspdoci.

THe PDFs that have issue also have some OCRB fonts (looks like some scanned image, etc).
Any one any suggestions how to resolve this?

Thanks
Pankaj.

THe PDF that I am processing also has many embedded fonts like:
1. Helvetica
2. Helvetica-Bold
3. Helvetica-BoldOblique
4. Helvetica-Oblique
5. OCRB(Embedded)
6. Times-Roman
7. Times_New_RomanBold(Embedded)
8. ArialIta(Embedded)
9. Arial(Embedded)

Pankaj - what you're describing, having a .res file and not a .res file, sounds like you're using an old level of arspdoci and a newer level of arspdoci.

I forget which release of CMOD made the improvement separate out the resources.

Are you sure you're using the same executable for both?

Pankaj, acknowledging your update.  I don't have any other quick or easy answers.

I have no idea, maybe upgrading to 8.5.0.6, but I'm not sure it will help here...
Or opening a PMR...

Sincerely yours,
Alessandro

I already opened a PMR. They have asked for some information that I have to provide.
Will update when I hear from them.
