Getting listing of application and folders

Is there a better way to get a listing of the applications, folders and the userid that has accessed these along with date or dae-timestamp. Also if there is way to tell the size of the folders.

Currently I have been getting most of the information using QMF queries/Access DB/Excel files  ;D

If this has been addressed before please point me in that direction. Thanks
