.TMP and .CACHE files

I am upgrading Content Manager on Demand for z/OS from 8.5 to 9.5. My question is can the .TMP and .CACHE files be reused from version to version?

Well, what's in the temp path definition can get re-used.

What do you mean by a .CACHE file ?  Example please?
