COMPARE AFP WITH PDF

Hi

I am wondering if there is a comparison between loading documents of type AFP and PDF.

We want to assess which document type would be easily handled by CMOD. Please advise.

Hi Binesh

Definitely AFP is better than PDFs since the compression that you get is far better.
That means you would have lot of savings in terms of memory in the long run.

I think you get even better compression with IBMLINE data.

Thanks
Pankaj.

I think the stats are like this :

For IBMLINE you get 30:1 compression.
For AFP you get 10:1 compression.
For PDF, I guess, you don't get any compression.

Cheers
Pankaj.

Well I don't have any stats, but it depends on how you archive the pdf..

If you archive the PDF as "User Defined", then you gain nearly nothing.

But if you use the PDF Indexer with CMOD >8.4.1 you gain with the PDF, then you will be able to save some space for storage, because it will remove the resources from the data, and do some "magic" to save some space as it will do with AFP.
How much... I have no idea, but you will gain something.
