arssockd

Hi

As far as my understanding goes, on an OnDemand for windows NT, the library server should be running.
In case of UNIX, arssockd is the representative of the Library Server.
So on a unix system, arssockd should be started.

Is this correct??

My question is for those who use OnDemand on Windows NT :

1. What health check do you do when the arsload command fails with the error "Unable to load data to the database".
2. Are there any special previleges that the user running arsload should have?

I am unable to raise a PMR as I don't have the "Company code".
While I am trying to get this code from my manager I would really appreciate if some one can throw some light on this.

Cheers
Pankaj.

Hello Pankaj,

normally the arsload user should have no special privileges, a simple user should do it.

Concerning the health check, you must be sure that the DB is correctly setup, that all the users have the correct permission, rights, etc...

Many of the problems I have found are related to permission/rights. And it's not because the user is the "Administrator" that it will work better, maybe a little !! :-D
So maybe the problem is not the arsload user, but it could be the arssockd user or the owner of the databank. You might need to check all the directories/caches/... sometimes the error is not really good described.
Do you use TSM? Maybe there are some configuration errors there too...

Unfortunately I don't use Windows too often the last year... so I have forgotten all my good tricks!!

No I do not use TSM.
This is just a test setup which I am using for R&D purposes.

I will try to find the root cause.
Hope I can raise a PMR later this week.
