Not sure of this is the correct forum to post this question, but does anyone know of a way to pull information on any application/folder to tell who has viewed it and when it was viewed?...This question was raised by one of our users wanting to know if anyone is viewing one of their reports to determine if it still is needed to be stored in CMOD...

Justin Derrick

You can set the Application Group to log queries and retrievals.  Searching the message text field in the System Log with %AppGroupName% will show you log entries related to the AG.

Thanks Justin!...What exact options should be checked?..RETRIEVAL, DATABASE QUERIES (Both BEFORE and AFTER)??

Just an FYI-

We had this turned on for a couple of our heavy hit application groups (65 and 226 I think..) record logging. We noticed a big hit on our database and retrieval times were impacted.

Database querues (after) should be selected if you have query restrictions defined.  Otherwise, just the 'before' option is sufficient.  The 'retrieval' messages should also be logged.

And yes, there is a performance impact -- it should be minimal in most systems.  If you do see a performance impact, tune the database -- there's no reason you shouldn't be able to handle hundreds of log messages per second.
