Anyone using IBM Content Navigator with Tomcat?

I've got a customer that wants ICN, but would like to integrate it into their existing web application infrastructure -- which is all based on Apache Tomcat.

Any info would be greatly appreciated -- even if it's just a 'me too' -- so that we can do an enhancement request.

Thanks.

I wonder if it is really not possible. You might need to do the installation totally manually.
I've done such manual installation for a customer who had a very specific internal WAS farm. And they didn't want to use the IBM installer and deployment.

The only problem I will see with Tomcat instead of WAS, is all the authentication method that are integrated with WAS and not with Tomcat, and that would be the problem I would see in order to use the current ICN with Tomcat.

So for me, I would say... ME TOO !! :-)

This past year I had an OnDemand iSeries customer with the requirement to serve PDF formatted invoices for account review on the web site.  They did not want to put up a separate server for WebSphere, so we wrote for them a custom web service that runs on Tomcat on their iSeries.  The web service uses the ARSDOC Get API to retrieve the requested file from OnDemand and return it to the calling program.

If ICN ran on Tomcat on the iSeries then it would have provided a more standard solution, so for me, I would say... ME TOO!!

I am also interested in Tomcat and ICN.
Have no experiences to share right now, will make an attempt to test a Tomcat deployment.

Did anyone ever get this working?

Justin Derrick

I'll double-check with that customer that I was working with, and see if they ever got their migration completed.

So, I got asked this question again, and I still didn't have a good answer...  :)

The customer that switched away from WebSphere eventually ended up on 'SpringBoot', which uses Tomcat as a component.

So the question remains unanswered...  Is Tomcat an acceptable / supported substitute for Websphere?

Anyone out there using it?
