Multiple TSM Servers

Can a single instance of OnDemand (ie. a startup of arssockd) utilize 2 different TSM servers?  It looks like the dsm.opt can specify 1 and only 1 that is defined in the dsm.sys.

Hi Walt...

I believe that the only supported configuration where you use multiple TSM servers is when you use multiple object servers -- something I recommend for only the largest of installations.

With high-speed data connections becoming ubiquitous, a substantial rationale for separating object and library servers in CMOD has disappeared.

If you tell us what your problem or concern is, maybe we can suggest an alternative.

Hello,

I was just wondering with CMOD 8.5 there are official support for multiple TSM Server.
Does anybody knows how it works? How can I define 2 TSM servers?
More importantly, what happens IF during a load, the network of one TSM is severed. What happens? Does the load breaks? If not, is there a way to resynchronize the broken load ??

Thank you in advance!

Alessandro

Hi Alessandro.

I don't have any customers that are using this feature in 8.5 -- but I'd imagine that a failure situation would be the same regardless of the number of TSM servers that are defined, especially if your Application Group is configured to migrate on load.  (Of course, the best alternative would be to migrate after loading if you were concerned about this situation.)
