Hello all,

I am trying to familiarize myself with the differences between these two products. Can someone explain to me, the differences or similarities between them, maybe even provide some good links :)

Thanks again

Hello Jeffs,

Well you are more asking something in the z world :-D (nothing to do with the new Brad Pitt movie  ::) )

So I don't know if TSM is in z world. But here is my view on both technology:

OAM
This is a z/OS only technology, and basically it stores data in a DB2 database. And probably can also write data in Tapes.

TSM
This is a technology to backup/archive any kind of data in any kind of devices with as many copy as needed on different support in sync or not, according to defined rules.

From what I've understood TSM Server works only in Unix/Windows world. But the TSM client is available for a lot of platform, including z/OS.
OAM is a z/OS technology working only in z/OS world.

Well that's a very short comparison between the 2! :-D

Maybe some z/OS experts can give a better view on the strength of OAM.

Sincerely yours,
Alessandro
